Note: The section will include options that are visible only if your account has Virtual Publisher and/or Tablet/Mobile ads enabled. If your account does not have Virtual Publisher or Tablet/Mobile ads enabled, you will not see some of these settings in your site. These options will be flagged as VP Only or Tablet Only.
Information ColumnThe Information Column on the left of the Publication Details tab contains basic information regarding the publication. Duplicate Button: Will allow you to duplicate the current publication with all of its ad specs and issues as a new publication. Very useful if you have multiple publications which share the same ad specs and/or issues. Publication Stats: Basic overview of publication activity. Lists the Total Active Ads, Ads Awaiting Removal and Ads Complete This Month for this publication. Remove Button: Deletes the current publication. Note: if you have active ads within the system that are still referencing an existing publication it is NOT RECOMMENDED that you remove that publication as this can make it more difficult to locate previous ads at a later date. In this situation it is recommended to disable the ability for advertisers to upload ads to this title and deactivate the title by disabling any active issues, or setting it to no longer use any color/preflight profiles. Change Cover Button: Upload a jpg, gif, or png image to use as a cover preview image. Recommended specs: 72 dpi, 150 pixels wide (height is whatever is proportional to 150 wide) Publication Name Field: Name of the publication. If you wish to rename your publication, simply change the name in this field. Publication Code: Abbreviated form of publication name (usually between 2-6 characters) which can be used as a variable throughout the site (such as part of the Materials ID, or can be used to create publication-specific folders when delivering ads via FTP) Website: If the publication has a website you wish to reference, you can enter it here. This is not required, nor will it affect the processing of files in any way. Trim Size: The final trim dimensions of your publication. (example: 8.5" x 11") Bleed Size: The bleed dimensions beyond the trim size of a Full Page of the publication. T: Top, B: Bottom, L: Left, R: Right (example: if your publication has a Trim Size of 8.5" x 11" and the final Bleed Size is 8.75" x 11.25", then .125" would be entered in all four fields.) Live Size: The live (safety) dimensions inside the trim size of a full page of the publication. (example: An 8.5" x11" bleed pages contains a safely printable area of 8" x 10". 8" x 10" is the Live Size. Printing Process: Defines whether the publication is printed as "Web Offset" or "Gravure Process". Does not affect the processing of ads in anyway, just some extra info. Bind Type: Defines which binding process the publication uses (Perfect Bound, Saddle Stitched, Side Wire, Spiral Bound, None) Default Delivery Location: Defines which FTP delivery destination to send all ads submitted to this publication if multiple delivery destinations are defined within Company Profile. Default Stock: (VP ONLY): Defines the default paper stock which pages are printed on. Paper Stocks can be created in "Manage Paper Stocks" in the "General Publication Settings" area of the Publication Profile. Properly defined paper stocks can help you determine the publication weights when trying to determine shipping costs. Proof Stock: Defines the paper stock that proofs will be printed on. Does not affect the processing of files in any way. Description Field: Any extra description you wish to ad to the publication which will appear on the "Ad Sizes" view. Publication Preparation ChecklistThe Publication Preparation Checklist on the right of the Publication
Details tab is the minimum requirements that must be met in order for a
publication to be able to accept uploads. Clicking on an item in the
checklist will take you to the area of the
Publication Profile where the listed item can be addressed. Tip: If a previously active publication displays with a red highlight in the Publication List, it means the publication is currently disabled. The Publication Preparation Checklist will list any items that must addressed before the publication will reactivate. ![]() The image above shows the most common checklist items: Flatplan Requirements: (VP ONLY) Color Specification: at least one color specification must be defined and set to be used for Pages in the Color Profile Tab. Page Preflight Profile: a preflight profile must exist and be set to be used for Pages in the Preflight Profiles Tab. Page Paper Stocks: a paper stock must exist in the "Manage Paper Stocks" window under the "General Publication Settings", and then be selected as the Default Stock in the "Information" panel. Ad Requirements: Issues: at least one issue must be defined and active in the Issues Tab. Color Specification: Color Specification: at least one color specification must be defined and set to be used for Ads in the Color Profile Tab. Page Preflight Profile: a preflight profile must exist and be set to be used for Ads in the Preflight Profiles Tab. |
